Name: Peggy Email: minniew@centurytel.net Guestbook Entry: Hi Florence,
I'm in Laurie's class with you and I have a personal problem with sleep apnea I hoped you might be able to help me with. Actually what I'm after is information so that I might stave off the affects a little bit better.
Here is where I'm at now: Last sleep study 6+ years ago, I had 99 incidents per hour. It appeared to be both obstructive and brain caused. I was put on a bi-pap syncrony at 19 over 17 (up from 8 on a cpap). I've always had trouble with it--even with a newer machine 2 years ago. Now I have type 2 diabetes and it was just discovered that I have emphysema in the upper part of my lungs, calcium deposits in my heart and a single nodule on my left lung.
I wonder at the pressure of the bi-pap exacerbating or even causing problems and/or symptoms and would appreciate your thoughts.
Peggy

Name: Sharon Pickrel Email: workshops@savvyauthors.com Guestbook Entry: \*****Permission to Forward Granted and Gratefully Encouraged*****//
Savvy Authors a website for Romance authors, is accepting proposals from interested instructors and presenters for our 2010 education program. We are seeking in-depth, well-structured workshops that address the needs of both beginning and advanced students in the areas of craft, promotion, publishing and editing that are NOT already scheduled more than twice during the 2010 calendar year. We are interested in new and forward looking workshops that reflect current and emerging trends in Romance writing and publishing including the implications of, considerations required by, and opportunities inherent in the explosive growth in e-publishing. We are open to a range of teaching styles including forum and chat based mixtures. Our workshops are conducted via a bulletin board based forum that can function like an email loop or list.
At this time we are accepting proposals for workshops of all lengths including 1, 2, 3 or 4 weeks, and 3 to 5-day intensives on a tightly focused topic. All workshops are open to anyone regardless of membership in Savvy Authors. Our stipend structure accommodates a flat fee structure as well as a split of the class fees. In addition presenters will receive a free one year membership in Savvy Authors, up to one hundred points and a feature ad on Savvy Readers to promote the book of their choice
Proposals for Savvy Authors' First Annual Bootcamp for Writers
Savvy Authors is committed to supporting published and aspiring authors by providing excellence in educational resources targeted to the specific needs of our membership. Hence, while interested in proposals on any craft, promotion or publishing topic, Savvy Authors is specifically soliciting proposals suitable for our First Annual Writer's Bootcamp scheduled for February 14th - April 10th. The workshops desired for this event are those that motivate, support and assist an author to draft, revise, and edit a novel in an eight week time frame. As well, we are looking for workshops in the area of identifying and evaluating agents and publishers, querying, writing synopses and preparing a professional quality submittal package.
As well, for this event we are also looking for short, tightly focused and intensive workshops lasting three to five days. An example of a specific workshop we are interested in in this category is one on Identifying Genre.
Instructors submitting for this event MUST be able to present between Feb. 14th and April 10th. Proposals for the Bootcamp for Writers MUST be received by 1/15/10. Decisions will be made by 1/2010. Instructors and presenters selected for the Bootcamp will be asked to provide a complete course promotion package, including a finished course précis, syllabus, bio, book blurb and either a cover graphic or picture of themselves, within 48 hours of notification of selection.
Proposals for the 2010 Calendar Year
Over the course of the coming year we are planning a three track program. It is our intent to offer a craft; publishing or promotion; and a topical workshop each month. We will also be sponsoring 3-5 day intensive, tightly focused topical workshops and seminars. Of particular interest are craft workshops that address the following subjects:
* Character Driven Plotting
* Weaving Together Plot and Character Arcs in a Romance Novel
* Three Act Structure
* Alternative (e.g, BDSM, M/M, polyamory, Ménage a Trois) Sexuality, Mores and Practices
* Writing in the Active Voice
* Scenes and Sequels
* Revision and Editing, optionally including Grammar and Punctuation
* Subplots and Plot Layers
* World Building
* Deep POV
* Bad Boys, Wicked Women, Villains, and Antagonists
* Writing Dark Heroines and Heroes
* Planning and Writing a Series or Sequels
* Showing vs Telling
Proposals for workshops targeted towards promotion that think outside the box and include innovative strategies will be warmly welcomed.
Genre specific workshops such as (but not limited to) crafting a mystery or creating an alien are also sought.
Instructors and presenters selected for the 2010 calendar year will be asked to provide a complete course promotion package, including a finished course précis, syllabus, bio, book blurb and either a cover graphic or picture of themselves, within five days of notification of selection.
Your proposal MUST specifically include:
1. Class Title and Length
2. Target Audience (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced or Mixed)
3. Proposed for the Feb 14th - April 10th Boot Camp YES or NO
4. Prerequisites
5. Description and Syllabus
6. Presenter Bio (including relevant experience and education)
7. Availability to Present
8. Degree of Instructor Involvement (e.g, will there be assignments and will they be reviewed individually or only as examples)
9. Is this workshop is currently scheduled for anytime in 2010? If so provide the dates and sponsor.
10. Email Address
We recognize in order to achieve our goals and best serve our membership it is sometimes necessary a workshop be developed or tailored to our specifications. We also recognize that some instructors or workshop topics in and of themselves may provide a degree of added value not found in other instances. Hence we are willing to negotiate a stipend that reflects that understanding. If you feel that your workshop falls into the latter category please include that information in your proposal.
We make every effort to promote the workshops as widely as possible and ask our instructors to do the same. Therefore we also ask our instructors to guest blog 2-4 weeks prior to the workshop as a part of the promotion for same.
Prospective and interested instructors and presenters are STRONGLY encouraged to visit Savvy Authors and its sister site, Savvy Readers , and to ask all questions before submitting a proposal.
Send a complete proposal for all workshops. Incomplete proposal packages will not be considered.
Proposals for the Bootcamp for Writers MUST be received by 1/15/10. Decisions will be made by 1/20/10. Proposals for the 2010 program must be received no later than 01/30/10 for consideration for the coming calendar year. Decisions will be made by 02/15/10.
All proposals should be addressed to:
